Weapon of choice, Yamaha Vino:

Get the truck from one place:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337675658_pTLma-M.jpg

and a trailer from another:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337675773_eAsJD-M.jpg

and load the scooter up in a third:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337675894_ZqUQM-M.jpg

and head off down the BQE:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676033_6TRsJ-M.jpg

"yo mang, yo scooter's gonna tip ovah, its leanin' ovah" "naw man, it's ALWAYS like that, and it NEVER falls over":

Careful for the giant piece of metal about to slide off on the truck on the right:

Some bridge:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676226_DnzLJ-M.jpg

I find these waterfalls to be a huge waste of electricity:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676291_orhGQ-M.jpg

and I had this stuck in my head:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TehFZ38kt6o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TehFZ38kt6o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and finally, 6 miles after i set out, i got to where i was heading:

i had time to kill, so i went shopping, this store kicks the crap out of any other grocery store i've ever experienced:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676629_WuZSu-M.jpg

mmm, coffee..........

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676847_gd6Qd-M.jpg

wasabi peas near the waterfront:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676943_XTh4s-M.jpg

some statue, some boat:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337676991_r4FJQ-M.jpg

after i was done with the scooter, i went here, i spend upwards of 50 hours a week on this street, walking back and forth, and back and forth:

http://bubbazanetti.smugmug.com/photos/337677358_4MZrj-M.jpg

time to cross the other bridge for some fun (stock photo of said bridge):

to my Wed night happy hour haunt:

I liked the pics but why did you trailer the scooter? I used to take my wifes burgman when I would have to do rush hour traffic in the city. Beats hell out of getting cramps in my left hand with the RT.

I agree that it sucks when people don't respond to ride reports. Nice pix, Derek!

I agree that it sucks when people don't respond to ride reports. Nice pix, Derek! It's not just any ride reports... it's New York City ride reports. :D We're the evil place that every one loves to hate (and no one can understand why a sane person would live here). :whistle

I was tempted to respond right on Derek's heels, but felt that would've made the thread too NY-centric and thus may have quashed any postings from further afield. Still hoping that others would jump in and follow the lead, though...

A fine documentary, Bubba. How much for a Bud long-neck in that bar? I also enjoyed seeing Phil Lynott's (rest his soul) monster afro and transparent bass in the Lizzy clip.

Most of that looks so familiar. I was born and raised near the Brooklyn/Queens border.

Learned how to ride there (how did I live through that?)

Nice "trip report".

I was stationed at Floyd Bennet field from 1964>67 and could tell some stories about the BQE. Married my wife of 41 years in Queens and will come back to the city in 2010 to sight see and look fondly on some great old memories. Ride Safe:D

I wish I had remembered to bring my camera to Spicy & Tasty (http://events.nytimes.com/2006/11/29/dining/reviews/29rest.html) last night. The shredded dry bean curd with celery should go immediately into the appetizer hall of fame as far as I'm concerned.

Looking at the map this morning revealed that our return route via the Van Wyck, South, to the LIE to the BQE is the best way to get from Flushing, Queens to Greenpoint, Brooklyn (and vice versa). I wish we'd known this on the way there... we wouldn't have gotten stopped by that cop on 108th street and 50th Avenue in Corona (for riding with our visors open in NYC). Next time we get lost and tour the entire borough of Queens, Bubba, we should definitely have a camera with us. :D
