The air quality in Northern California has been less than ideal over the past weeks given all the fires. Granted it has improved greatly from a few weeks ago, but the air is still not the greatest. At times the air quality was poor enough to cause difficulty for those with respiratory issues. So my question is, would you ride in poor air quality or wait for the air to improve?

I would move to the Midwest.

 I'm just curious . . . what do you plan to do for breathing until the air quality does improve? Hide indoors? I don't see how riding will be any different from just going outside.

All that northern kali stuff is blowing into here. I ride anyway.
Think of it a a restaurant - if you can't see your food, it doesn't taste as good. Why shouldn't you see what you brreathe?

If it's all that bad you could attach your respirator hose to the tail pipe and breath in those altered and sanitized catalytic fumes! :thumb (:scratch low/zero emission vehicle -you gotta love 'em)

Just make sure you rinse your system thoroughly after the ride is over... :buds

It's an interesting problem. If you drove vs. rode, you could set the car's a/c to recirculate the air vs. cooling outside air--this would filter some of the particles out of the air. As would simply running the a/c vs. driving with the windows open.
For a few days, the health department did recommend that people with breathing problems stay inside as much as possible.
Myself? I've ridden through areas affected by smoke from the fires. I definitely notice the difference.
