Time to adjust the valves and since I'll be pulling the plugs I thought I'd replace them. Problem is that my manual recommends Bosch XR5DC or Champion A 85 YC (1994 K75S). Both of these appear to be unavailable in Central Cal w/o a trip to the BMW shop which is 40 miles away. Anyone have a suggestion to alternate plugs?

These all mention K100s, but may apply to K75Ss as well:

I've been using my first set of Autolite 4164 plugs for the past year or so. Seem to work just fine. They're cheap and readily available.

Hi,
I prefer Autolite 4163 plugs (slightly colder than 4164), but I live in El Paso, TX which is hotter than where you live. 105F is not uncommon in the summer. I generally pay about $1.25 each for the 4163's at Checker Auto Parts. I have used the NGK DR8EA also, and it worked well (in my K1100LT a number of years ago), but the Autolite 4163 is available, very inexpensive, and it works well for me.

My 87 K75S runs great on the NGK's, summer, fall, spring, and a bit of winter.

The Bosch plugs are available cheaply from http://www.euromotoelectrics.com. Buy a whole box!

I use NGK. I avoid the Bosch plugs, which you think would be the "top shelf" recommendation for a BMW. Put a set in once and there is this seal between the threaded part and the hex part (that the socket fits over) and damned if I didn't get a compression leak at that seal! No more, not worth the failure chance. I don't own a Jap bike but I own 3 Jap plugs!

I've had a set of Beru RO-002 plugs in my 87K75 (180k + Miles) for the last
8 years and 70K miles. They seem less likely to foul, and if they do an Italian
tune up clears them, unlike the Bosch which I needed to pull if they fouled. Can't
find them anymore and hate to replace these as long as the bike runs so good.
But I keep a spare set of Bosch under the seat just in case

NGK fan...D7EA or D8EA...one of them is hotter, I forgot which one.
Ask the guys at PepBoys/NAPA for plugs for a late 80s BMW 318i(I think it is) and those should pop-up...

For NGK, colder plug for hotter/higher HP running engines
D7EA is hotter plug then a D8EA (this is a colder plug, but for a hotter, more powerful engine)
Great write up here: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/spark_plugs/p3.asp?mode=nml

I am working on a friend's K bike while he is on a family vacation. Pulled the spark plugs this afternoon. Bosch Super R6. Funny looking things 2 grounding things which come up to the center electrode... err the tip of the plug.
Look almost new although the injectors are running a little rich. So off on to the web and figure out are these plugs made for a K100 bike?
Any ideas? I found one web site for Volvo cars!
thanks
