I'm trying to remove the rubber intake 'elbows' that run between the airbox, and the throttle bodies. BMW has a special type of plier for the metal band which provides compression at each end.
The special pliers PN 833 004 01 727 run $220.00, which is a bit rich for me, although I am sure they would also serve as a splendid roach clip...

Any ideas on how to remove the band would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with this connector, but why not just cut it and replace it with something more universal? Does it have to be BMW-specific?

I did install a K&N air filter in my bike, but do not recall the connector you reference.

People have used fine-tip Vise-Grip pliers to open these. Set the jaws to slightly less than the spacing between a few of the lumps sticking out where the two ends overlap, and squeeze to release the catches. Installation is the opposite of removal.
