Gately Bartlett of Acworth, Georgia, founder of the Road Anomaly Tour, died Monday evening. Funeral arrangements have not been announced, but I will update the list when this information is made available. The funeral is expected to be this Friday near Acworth, a suburb of Atlanta.
The Road Anomaly Tour was started to encourage riders to get out, ride and see some of the unique and unusual sites around the world. I was honored to be one of Gately's "Rat Sites". One example of a RAT page belongs to David E.B. Smith of Chicago and can be found at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/DavidEBSmith/cycle/rat1998/rat98.htm .
In addition to the Great RAT Runs, Gately sponsored the Angola Prison Rodeo at the state prison in Angola, Louisiana and participated in BMW rallies from Georgia Mountain to the Blitz To Branson and the Ride To Savannah. The RAT Banner has made many trips to BMW rallies around the US and Canada.
