Where are some places that I could find a top case for my K75? I've tried the "beemerboneyard.com", but everything there is always sold out. Any other spots that are good to look at?

I'd also consider some other luggage, if there are some that work well with the k75.

Thanks,
Mark

GIVI..... Rack mount # E181 for the K75 and I have the E460N top case. They make many different sizes, I needed one to fit an XXXL helmet and have room for smalls. Just search GIVI the prices vary from vendor to vendor.

The top cases show up from time to time on the IBMWR Marketplace. Or you can post a free ad there as well as here on the MOA Forum that you are looking for one. Try here first on the Flea Market above with a "Wanted" Ad.

I agree. I have a GIVI 50 litre top box. Holds two helmets, or one helmet and lots of other stuff. It will even store my gloves, riding pants as well as my 3/4 length coat, (minus helmet of course).

I seem to remember rumors wind turbulence problems with huge top boxes, especially
if ridden solo. Never noticed it with my 22 liter box, but I only have an XXL head size.:laugh

In the three years that I've had the GIVI, I experienced turbulence one day last summer, complete with a large bag in front of the 40 litre GIVI. It was a windy day. As well, with one of my three windshields I did have turbulence hitting my back every time on the highway. Not so with the other two windshields and the same GIVI box. I've ridden 74,000 km in the last three years and would conclude that possibly it might be a combination of windshield and a large top box that produces turbulence.

By the way, the GIVI box has never leaked; can't say the same for the system cases. As well, the GIVI locks and goes on and off the bike with one hand.

Givi. Twistedthrottle.com is one supplier. The OEM top box is hopelessly small.

Big help. I did some looking at the GIVI boxes today, and they may do the trick. Not so in love with how you have to replace the old rack with theirs, but that is probably not too much to ask for.

Thanks again for the quick responses!

It really is quite easy to replace OEM rack and install the new GIVI rack. By the way, I thought that my GIVI looked quite out of place on my K (for about 30 minutes) but now, to my eyes, it just looks like it belongs back there.

Make sure you purchase the correct rack for the Givi case you're getting. Givi makes two lines of cases, and Givi makes two different racks for the K75. Monolock and Monokey are the case lines Givi E-series topcase racks are for use with Givi Monokey topcases only and are not compatible with Givi Monolock topcases.

No matter what I do, all of the Givi cases remind me of bbq grills. :D

Somebody on this board found this one from JC Whitney and said it worked well with his BMW:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product?storeId=10101&Pr=p_Product.CATENTRY_ID%3A2002510&productId=2002510&langId=-1&catalogId=10111

He was able to use it with the stand rack that was on his K100 and bolted the mounting plate to his rack.

You may be able to find the original thread in either the K-bike forum or the equipment forum.

If you're handy you can build a rack out of aluminum L stock and tubing from Home Depot. That's what I did. I use pop rivets and long bolts to hold it all together to the bike. I wish I had some pictures, but I'm sure you could figure it out. The materials cost me about $15
If you take the tail off your K75 and look in the storage trunk you'll see the places to drill the holes for the rack.
I mounted the copy of the givi top case from JC whitney, I think it cost $70. Very good construction and I'm using it on my current bike now. I've had it for 5 years.
You know what? It might be easier to buy the mounting rack from twisted throttle and then put the topbox from JC Whitney on it.

Has about the capacity of the glovebox in an SUV, but sure looks good IMHO.

Not for helmet storage.:violin

Would you kindly clarify for me...............

Is the E181 the actual rack that bolts to the back of the bike? Or is it the adaptor plate that ATTACHES to the rack -- with the Givi case then attaching to the adaptor plate?

If the E181 is the rack itself, do you have any tips on installation?

Thanks.

You use the E181 to replace the BMW rack that sits tight to the tail. The E181 makes a flat pad area for the box to attach to. You use the same holes from your now removed BMW rack to mount the Givi E181. You can also use the E180, one is metal, one is plastic. I don't remember who is who. I think the 181 is the Metal mount.

I will say that it does look goofy at first. You might get used to it though.

Now you pick your GIvi top box to attach to the rack. You want a MonoKEY as mentioned earlier. MonoLOCK is for scooters and such and won't work with the rack.

I have the Maxia E52 and it's huge. I also picked up the Admore Lighting kit with brake lights/turn signals on the box. The cases come with large red plastic areas that look like lights or reflectors, but they are neither. Now I am HUGE from the back with all kinds of lights.

You can pick up a smaller box if you like, and if you have multiple bikes (don't I wish) you can easily switch from one to the other in a matter of seconds.

Another thing about the 22L top case. People are selling the racks and mounting plates on ebay for more than they sell for from a dealer. These parts are available. I got my rack with the top case for a good price and the plate from Santa Rosa BMW. :german
