Has anyone here installed a throttlemeister on a cruiser with heated grips? My wife totaled her 2001 cruiser and we have since replaced it with another one of the same year with heated grips. we have heard that the throtttelmeisters will not work on cruisers with heated grips due to wiring inside. I don't want to try it without knowing if it will work as you have to pretty much destroy the end of the grips to accommodate the T.M.s.

According to Throttlemeister web site, a model for the Cruiser with heated grips does not exist. Bob's BMW sells another brand, maybe they have one.

If you have the old and want to sell, let me know, my lady is on a Cruiser and has asked for one.

Will a Scheiders Flip-a-lever work? I'd consider one of those cheesey plastic throttle locks like you see on Honda's They are a lot faster to install, and aren't heat sensitive like a Throttlemeister.

The one from Bob's has is right hand threaded, so you have to set drag before you ride. The Throttlemeister is left hand threaded which allows you to set drag when you get to speed.

Yikes, I did not realize that. I like the left hand thread because you can unlock while reaching for brake lever. Not sure I would like it the other way.

Something you might try. They make a heated grip version for the K12RS... I remember something about interchangable in the early days before other things were on the market... early 98. I thought it was the K12 would fit the Cruiser (since I only had the Cruiser and no K12RS yet at that point). Not sure about heated grip application, if the wires come into the Cruiser Grip differently.

Try asking the Chromehead list.

Actually, you masy not want to cut up the grips, but I have a K12RS heated grip TM hangin around the garage. If you want to try, I could send them over for testing purposes. Better yet, we could meet somewhere inbetween us.

Schneider is waiting for someone to donate a cruiser housing so he can test it, as far as I know he hasn't had one to drill yet.

There is a friction lever-type available from one of the members of the Chromeheads forum, here's a link:
"Chromeheads Forum » Marketplace » Vendor Corner » R12Cruise-Lok - A Throttle Friction Cruise Control" (http://www.chromeheads.org/discus/messages/7/35402.html?1083347820)

The Chromeheads forum has a Tech (how to) section for grips, and cruise controls are some of the topics, here's the link:
"Chromeheads Forum » Tech Center » Gauges/Grips/Controls" (http://www.chromeheads.org/discus/messages/6/34272.html?1085415751)

and a resource (what works) section, which has cruise control product reviews, here the link:

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll try the one the guy on the chromeheads forum sells. My wife had bought one but already had the T.M. on her bike so I never bothered to put it on.

I put an o-ring on my r1150r. It will not hold 100%,but it really reduces fatigue.
