When the RT first started this problem it felt like the engine cut off electrical or fuel then would run fine until it hit 3800 to 4000 rpm then cut out once again. As long as I stayed under 3800rpm it would run smooth. When this happened the tach would drop off then back up again. The only way I can descibe this is that it felt like it had reached a speed limiter and then the engine would cut out temporarily.
Tonight on the way home (10:30 pm) it was cutting out and back in as I was passing a truck. I went through a 30mph zone everything was fine. When I picked up speed coming out of the village the tach dropped off the engine went dead and the heat gage went all the way to the top. This was suprising to me since the highest I had ever seen the heat gage go up was 2 bars then back down again after initial warm up. I waited a couple of minutes and the heat gage went down so I tryed to start the bike and it did run. I started down the road and after a mile or so the tach dropped off, heat gage went up and I pulled out the cell phone. After all this happened the bike would crank over but would not start. It is now 2 hours later and the bike will start.
Does anyone know what sensor might cause this type of reaction to the computor. What should I check before I make an 80 mile trip to the dealer with the bike on the trailer it came home on. Thank goodness my buddy owed me for the 8 hour round trip to recover his bike in Lake Placid last year.
I would appreciate any good suggestions.
Thanks,
Tom
