I recently aquired a 93 k75rt w/ 31k on the clicker. It runs great. This is my first K bike. My other ride is a 2003 r1150rt w/ a little over 85 k on that clicker. I am familiar w/ BMW products but this flashing ABS light has got me stumped. The previous owner told me it started when the battery went low. He replaced the battery and the wqarning light is contiuing to flash. I have read w/ interest some of the postings here to help solve this problem. I want try to fix myself before spending a lot of money. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. I tried holding down ABS rest button for over 30 seconds , I read a thread on here about grounding something under the seat and holding down reset button at the same time ?? My brakes are working I tried th ABS at low speed it is not working. Looking for feed back.

Thanks, Mike:scratch

Here's the link to the K-bike tech pages where you'll find great guidance:
http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech.shtml
Brian Curry's "Read out ABS I Fault Codes" is the best starting point, but read through all of the ABS related ones to get a good orientation to your new system. I strongly recommend going to Radio Shack and getting the little LED with a built in resistor to use to read the codes.....only costs like $5 and is really worth it.
Post your findings here and you'll get plenty of suggestions. Prepare yourself for a learning experience--it's actually quite a pleasant pastime puzzling out what is going on with the early ABS systems.

The standard and most common 'repair' for the costly flashing light seems to be small pieces of black tape covering the flashing warning lights.....of course you can pony up 2o% to 30% of the bikes value and buy another ABS computer.

A malfunctioning control unit can stop your brakes from working, not saying that it will but it can. Mine did. Used brains surface occasionally. I'd unplug the brain while riding.

So, check your rear brake light see if it comes on if it dosn't then your going to need a bulb monitor electronic unit(or tailight).(beemerboneyard.com) this is what kills the ABS and shuts off the brake lights. if it is working then please go to the abs sight it will tell you how to turn off that nasty light.

p.s make sure ALL the lights work(dash to)as the bulb monitor checks all lights. brakes swiches on the front handlever..;)

Thanks for the links. I have the same problem, flashing red light on a K75RT I recently acquired. Previous owner solved problem with a bit more class - used a small US flag over the blinking light. ;)

Brakes seem to work fine but the blinking red light is a PITA.

Thank you for all the constructive feedback. I haven't been able to tinker with the bike yet, been dong some remodeling and that is taking a big chunk of my time. I will keep you all posted. I should note that all my other lights work fine brake lights no other warning lights on so I'm hoping for a reset. I will let you all know.

Thanks, Mike:type

Thank you for all the feed back. I found the solution on the link listed here. http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech.shtml I solved mt ABS blinking light problem by accessing right side panel and grounding the cnter plug to the bike while holding down reset button for 20 seconds. I could actually here the thing click, now everything is working fine.

Thanks All, Check out this website there is some great stuff here!!
