How can I remove the 'R1150RT' decal without harming my paint? My bike is black and I'd like it to be all black with nothing else except the BMW roundels. Thanks.

Jerry,
They are really pressure sensitive labels not old fashioned decals.

Try a heat gun on a low setting and use your fingernails to get one corner off enough so you can grab it and pull it off slowly without ripping the label or get some 3M adhesive remover and soak the top edge with it and the use your finger nail to start to lift off a corner of the pressure sensitive label and then try to pull it off slowly.

Be careful, don't rush. With a little patience and time you will get it off without scratching the paint surface.

Hope this helps.

In the past to remove dealership decals on cars, I've had excellent succes with WD-40 and a hair dryer. Sprayed the decal and let it set for a few seconds and put the hair dryer to it. The decal pretty much releases and comes right off and no problems with the paint at all. Consider though that depending on the age and conditon of the bike's paint you might have a "ghost" image of where the old decal was regardless of how you remove it.

It's black? forget the heat gun, you don't need it.

Let it sit out in the sun for an hour, they should peel right off.

+1 on going slow

+ 1 on possible darker "original" color underneath
