Have you done a transmission fluid change? Fresh clean fluid makes a world of difference. I know it made my shifting smoother.

I have the same bike you have. It has 33,000+ miles on it and I changed the transmission oil this spring (don't know what the prior owner did but I suspect nothing). I changed the oil to a synthetic blend and it shifts better than it did before (it shifted OK before).

Draining the oil is a little difficult. It is hard to get to. You have to loosen the muffler clamp and move it out of the way. The plug takes a 14mm Hex bit (very large allen wrench thing). I only found it in a 1/2 inch drive and used an extension to reach it. The transmission holds about a quart.

Put in "Red Line MTL" or any of their race products. I prefer their heavier "ShockProof" gear/transmission oils.
