K75 Speedo repairs. Solder?

Ok, the speedometer/Odometer on my K75 has finally flaked out. It was only flaky when wet, now it's just off.

I have pulled it apart, cleaned contacts, replaced the back panel with the gortex one..

still no workie. I'm tempted to send it off for repair as the clock crystal is black and the gear shift indicator is black too. However I don't want to spend thousands on this.

Anyone have any clue about repair costs or this great idea about solder jumpers?

Speedos can also go flakey if the external plug ( connects the FD pickup to the main harness near the radiator overflow tank ) gets overly corroded. Just something else quick & easy to check.
