Hi guys,
I am out of my home area, at the parents, on a trip. My oil change is due on my r1150r and I need some help finding a place to do it. The BMW website lists Barrington, IL as the nearest dealer which is exactly the opposite of the way I am headed! Does anyone know of a place to get a simple oilchange in Harvard, Woodstock, or Rockford, IL?

Why not just put it off till you get home, or get to a convenient oil change location?
Unless you've been riding in the desert dirt or in some other hostile environment you are not going to hurt the bike by running a thousand or two miles beyond the change interval.

Thanks Jason,
I will not make it up there in the time available. I found a friend I went to school with to do a drain and refill. I will get to the filter when I get home. Thank you though.

Call Jim at Rose Farm Classics in Woodstock. He is one of the top BMW mechs/ restorers and you WILL be taken care of. I live in Woodstock and he has been the ONLY one to touch my bike for 8 years and I have nothing but 1000% trust in him. Call or PM me if there is anything I can do to help, I'm just down the street.

Everyone has their own take on the oil change issue. My 94RS has 130K on it with no problems. I use Mobil 1 since 3k on the bike, and I change the oil between 4k to 5k. Personally, and especially on BMWs with seperate engine and tranny oil, I feel the whole 3k oil change mark is as much a means to make oil sales as it is to address engine maintenance.
But also, I live in the upper midwest, cooler temps overall. Most all my rides are highway, for not less than 1/2 hour almost all the time. Inner city, medium speeds riding is much harder on the engine than constant highway speeds.
On bikes that share the engine and tranny oil its a different matter. Then 3k is a good change point as a max, because of the affect of gear action that breaks the oil down quicker.

Don't forget to have him check the flux capacitor fluid level.
