/7 gas tank5? on /

Will a /7 gas tank work on a /5 without modification?

I'm not sure about the rear mounting points for the two tanks. The /7 has the small finger nuts that screw onto mounting points...not sure about the /5. I know there's issues with swapping seats and it has to do with the dimensions of the tank. Someone illustrated it this way:

TANK/SEEEEEAT /5 and /6
TAAAAANK/SEAT /7 and R90S
TANK/gap/SEAT /7 seat with an earlier tank

Meaning that the tank is smaller on the /5/6 than the /7. Sometimes people want to put a /7 seat on a /5/6 bike...the result is a gap between the seat and tank.

Should fit right on. I have had a /5, /6 and /7 tanks on my slash six and could not tell the difference in the fit.

This is correct. The mounting for the seat and the tank are the same but in different places so that the seat is moved back for the /7 type tank. In otherwords, yes, a /7 gas tank will work with a /5 but ONLY if you replace the seat too.
