We are looking at removing the air induction system. We noticed while we are rebuilding the carbs that a vacuum from each carb goes to a t which goes to a vacuum can on the left side of the airbox that goes to the left pipe down to the left head. If you remove this air pipe to the heads do you leave the air can and plug it off or remove it all together and if so what do you do with the vacuum tubes to the carbs?????
Sorry to seem so lame here but figure asking a dumb question is better than having to do things two or three times.
Thanks for the help
Jim and Esther.

You can remove the vacuum lines from the carburators and plug the vacuum ports on the carbs. That can be done with a cap but it is best done with a screw and fiber washer. The vacuum lines from the carbs to the tee and the tee itself can be removed. The tubes from the head to the airbox can be removed as well as the intake valves inside the airbox that are connected to those tubes. The holes in the airbox are best closed with a timing hole plug. They are cheap and fit the opening perfectly.

Leave the larger fitting coming from starter compartment in place. The one that plugs into the suction funnels that feed the carbs. It is part of the engine ventilation system.
