Can anyone tell me where to find the color codes on my R1200RT? I have the Charcoal bike and want to get the lower part of the inner fairing painted to match the rest of the bike and eliminate the silver. Would like to have the BMW color code to use.

Thanks,

Had a bag lid resprayed after a tip over and took the BMW paint code to the body shop. Was told it would not match up, for a bimmer car yes but not the two wheeled version etc, they used a scanner on the lid to match it up. Turned out to be for a Suzuki of some sort; was unsure of this at first but the result was a perfect match. Btw, it was a custom paint shop for hot rods, bikes from the dark side, speed boats etc; wasn't cheap but very well done.:whistle

I think the number on the sticker under the seat is the "Scheme Code" and not the actual "Paint Code". The Scheme Code indicates the different Paint Code(s) used for that bike, with the result that you first take the Scheme Code to then determine the Paint Code(s) you need.

We used that number and called our paint manufacturer rep. and he gave us the formula, mixed the paint ourselves and painted a front fender on an 08 R1200RT and got a perfect match. Twin City BMW in Savoy Il. assured us that was the number to use.

We could be talking the same thing. The number under the seat of my Cobalt Blue R1100RS is "699". When I ordered some touch-up paint from Holt BMW, they confirmed that 699 is the Scheme Code, which includes Cobalt Blue Paint Code "321". Other Scheme Codes may include multiple Paint Codes depending on how the the bike is painted. This may be what Twin City BMW did with your number.

Mike, your right, the number under the seat is the Scheme Code. When we called for the paint mixing formula they needed this number plus they needed the name of the color of the paint, Barritz Blue in our case (I think). They, the paint manfacturer, was then able to give us the mixing formula. Now Dan Forker will need the number under the seat plus the name of the color of the paint on his bike. With this information we can get the mixing formula and mix his paint. Most body repair and paint shops can do this.

Go to Glasurit's web page http://www.glasurit.com/

Enter the Scheme Code and as much other info about the bike as you can, and it will tell you the Paint Codes used on your bike (apparently including the paint used on the frame). When I enter 699 for my 95 BMW Motorcycle (R1100RS), it tells me 321 (Kobaltblau) + 120 (Schwarzmatt - matt black?) + 121 (ET Schwarzmatt - another matt black?).
