A friend is going to Alaska in a week on a dream trip on his GS. We are helping him tune it up this weekend, and he wants to replace the deteriorated rear boot. I've read "Rear Drive Unit R&R" but am not sure how far you have to go to get to the boot. I've got plenty of instructions, including Clymer, Adventure Riders' article, etc. I also know I need to obtain a couple of tools. (12 mm Hex and 30 mm socket)
Have you done this? How difficult is it? What are pitfalls to watch for?
