This Question has probably been asked many times but I could not find any reference. Need to replace tires on 1200GS. Bike has OEM tires and I don't have any issues with them, wondering if anyone has a preference for other brands. Not interested in off road tires, but combination that will run well on both pavement and dirt. I'm riding in Alaska and Yukon.
Thanks

Found the Metzeler Tourance the best for me.

Question. You don't want off road tires but you want to run on dirt? Dirt is off road.

Anakees or Distanzias. Anakees for more dirt, Distanzias for more road.

Max, you have a keen eye for the obvious...but both paved and gravel roads (some have dirt mixed with the gravel) are the norm so I was interested riders preference for an all around tire up here. I'll take a look at some of the suggestions made...

I've got 18,500 miles on my '06 gs. It came with Annakees. They were gone at about 8,000. The rear worn out and the front badly cupped. I put a set of TKC 80s on just south of Canada on my way to Alaska. Great on the gravel and pretty good on the road. The rear wasn't going to make it home, so I mounted the Tourances on my way back. They have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 on them and they are holding up better than the Annakees. They grip well enough for my riding style (moderately aggressive middle aged). I haven't really checked their dirt performance. I have another set of Tourances in the garage for when these are gone.
