I noticed this photo in Dan's post in the brakelight/CANbus thread. Can anyone detail how the BMW OEM soft topcase properly attaches to the Roadster seat? It appears here that only two points are attached.
I have a BMW soft topcase that I used on the rear rack, but stopped using when I bought a lockable hard topcase. I have all the straps. I should have kept the manual!
Thanks.

There is a pocket on the bottom of the bag that slips over the end of the seat. Then you pull forward and down with a couple of ties.

Oh! The same way I put it on the rack! What are the second pair of clips for, then?

19 liters. The hard top case that fits the same rack is 28 liters, but I swear it's easier to stuff the same items in the soft case. Can't lock it, though, and I got tired of hauling the softcase around with me in downtown Baltimore to prevent theft (it is waterproof).

It comes with short, medium and long straps and the four mounting points as previously stated, so you can mount it any number of ways.
The Roadster is getting many more miles on it now that there is a way to bring along a few things!.
If there is any downside, it is the price, (around $169.00) but still well worth it IMHO. It's a great bag!

Looking at it on the web parts diagrams - it appears much taller than in the photo of Dan's bike. Anyone care to comment? Does it shrink down to 4-5" high when it's not full? Without flapping when riding?
I'm interested in one for a few incidentals that would be handy to carry and won't fit in my tankbag (heated jacket liner for one..) but can't imagine I'd need it fully expanded if it really looks like the photos in the catalogs and the parts images.

It is taller. I think the one on the forum is not full of stuff. Viki and I each have one and can get a whole weekend of clothes, etc. into it for a rally.

Jack,
Thanks. I assume it doesn't stay flattened down like in the photo if it's not full?

Ours don't. But we take them off when not using them so maybe if you drive around with one empty, it sags eventually. They have a waterproof inside liner like the new tankbags, BTW.

Jack,
Thanks. That would end up being bigger than I want/need.. so.. I'm thinking along the lines of:

Might be just the ticket on the Roadster. Not TOO big, not TOO small. Big enough for the few trip things that I can't toss in the tankbag (airpump, Gerbing jacket-liner, some water bottle..) and not so tall I can't get my leg over it.

My soft topcase does not flop down like that at all when attached to the rack, even when empty. I suspect the lowered rear of the case is due to the slant of the seat and the tightness of the straps.

If I cram it full, it stays up, but for some reason it sags when I have less stuff in it. Dunno why.
