Yup. That's what most of the VFR guys do. Cut to a length you like.

Does anyone have a picture of an R fender that has been eliminated?

I like the look of your bike without the fender.

Last week I had a small incident when I excellerated to go around some traffic. The guy riding behind me told me later I had kicked up a small rock that hit him in the face. With you wheel as exposed as it is now do you think it kicks up more gravel?

I was wondering if I should extend the fender flap down some more.

That's a guy named Pep's bike. He's around Houston somewhere.

My bike is still stock, as far as fenders go, I just posted the pictures so that you could see one that had the fender removed. I ride in the rain and I would rather keep my fender as it is.

But I clicked through to the advrider thread on this guy's project and was struck by the hostility he got for doing this project. I've often wondered why beemers see so little modification, maybe it's just peer pressure. FWIW I think his semi-finished project looks great, maybe we'll see the final version here one of these days.

To the Pep's and CustomSarge's of the world I say "Go For It!" and thanks for trying.....

The mod looks cool to me. On the subject of beemer mods, the new editor of Road Bike rides a BMW and she is having it modified and the mag is telling the story over several months. It is gonna be pretty radical.

On rocks in the face: One more reason for full face helmets, yeah?

Personally I heard that Lorazepam rides a highly chromed scooter, but I could be wrong.....

I removed the rear fender section and replaced it with a stainless steel mesh (from a marine shop) bracket to hold the plate. Works fine except in the rain (throws up water/gunk), so I have an original full-length fender I can bolt and zip-tie on during the winter/rainy months.
