Hey All,
What kind of milage are you getting on the Continentials? I've got a 1200RT that has the Continental tires. I'm planning on going to Gillette for the Rally, I'll probably do about 4000 miles on the trip. So I'm trying to figure out if I can make the trip on my tires, or if I will need to find a place to change tires enroute. I've got about 2500 on the tires now, so I figure it will be close if they are like the Metzler Z6, I normally got about 6,000 to 7,000 out of them.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks,
SteveI can't speak to RT life - but the Road Attacks on my R1200R - front lasted 13,000 miles. Wasn't worn out, but was cupped and distorted enough that I changed it. Current rear has 8,000 miles on it - looks good for another 2-3,000 without a problem.

That helps, I figure that the RT loaded will be a heaver, but it sounds like the milage is going to be better thank the Z6 that I have run in the past.

FWIW...
I'd put fresh shoes on before the trip....
why disrupt a great trip with a needed tire change?
If inclined, you can always put your old tires back on and use em up after you get back form WY.

FWIW, I have a set of Mich PR on my 06 RT, the rear has 18K on it with about maybe 1500 more left. I run 42 in the rear and 36 in the front. I get exceptional tire wear here in AZ. Haven't tried any other brands in the 45K I've put on her since new in Feb'06.

I've still got the OEM Conti Road Attacks on my R1200R, and at just under 9,000 miles, I think they will easily make it to my next service interval. I'm getting a lot better wear out of them than I did the Metzeler Z4s I had on my R1150R. I'll probably replace them with more of the same.

Put a new set f Road Attacks on my 07 RT a couple of weeks ago, before a trip from FL to Nova Scotia and back....GREAT skins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did 6127 miles in total on them..and NOT all wonderful road..but again GREAT tires. I've probably got another 2-4K on them now that I'm home where it's flat...but ordered a new set while I was out and swapping both out in a week. Don't need to..but going to show some love to the bike!

I don't know what you guys do and how you do it to achieve such mileage, but I do live in the central PA mountains, and I like to ride hard and fast. And I do not tolerate 2/32. If I get 6,000 miles on a rear and 9,000 miles on a front, I'm quite happy.

Hey All, What kind of milage are you getting on the Continentials?
Hello Steve,
I have Conti Road Attacks on my R1200R. I replaced both at my 6,000 mile service, at 59XX miles. The rear was worn to minimum tread. The front had enough tread left, but was cupping badly. I'm trying 35psi front instead of the recommended 32 to see if that solves the cupping problem.
I weigh 200#, usually ride solo with light luggage, mostly non-interstate. My riding style is "euro". ;)
Great tires, though on past bikes I've been used to getting twice as much from a front as a rear. Pay to play, I guess.
Cheers, Tom

I mounted a set of TRAIL ATTACKS on my GS about a month ago prior to a trip. I've put 3200 miles on them with about 1500 Interstate miles and 1700 NC mountain road miles. I am happy to report that they are still in great condition and should have another 6-7000 left on 'em.
I am 225 and ride fairly aggressively; tire pressure is 42(r) 38 (f) The Interstate riding is with FULL Micatech bags and the mountain roads is sans bag.

Thanks for all the replys! I've decided to go ahead and put new tires on prior to Gllette, and then put my old tires back on and finish them off after I return. I really don't want to fool with changing tires on the road. Of course this means I'll probably pick up a nail in WY! ;)
