Hi! I have a 2007 R1200RT - I got it new and put a GPS on the accessory plug. It cuts out randomly and always at the worst time. I have been to 2 dealers to try and fix this, they blame me or my GPS. It is not me, it is not the GPS, it seems as though the dealers have no idea how to deal with the computers, and are terrified about going to BMW. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.

What makes you think it's not the GPS?

The GPS pulls fractions of an amp in power, were the GPS teh problem it would likely not be working at all since the aux circuit is a 10 amp circuit.

That said, there has been recurring issues with some BMW aux plugs randomly cutting out. The fix is generally a reflash of the firmware on the ZFE.

HI WILDBLUE! I HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT GPS'S MOUNTED WITH TWO DIFFERENT CORDS IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. SINCE THEY ONLY DRAW .8 AMPS I FEEL AS THOUGH THERE IS NO REASONABLE LIKELIHOOD THAT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE GPS UNITS OR WIRING. I HAVE ALSO BYPASSED THE PLUG SOCKETS TO ENSURE THAT IT IS NOT THE PROBLEM EITHER. THANKS

If you are using an accessory plug adapter check for broken wires.

I had my original GPS hooked to a powerlet plug and it cut out every now and then. I ended up buying the "repair plug/harness" to be able to wire the GPS to the GPS socket at the steering head and all my problems went away.
