I just bought a 98 k1200rs 9000 miles on it I ran 87 octane gas in it for about 1600 miles . Can the lower octane gas cause valve train damage? I am getting valve train noise at low rpms under load untin I rev to about 3000 rpm. Is this a timing issue or did I damage my bike? Any help out there? Tom

I'm not sure about running low octane gas in a K1200RS. I usually run premium gas in my K12RS. However, there are several other forums where someone may have asked this question and received a decent answer.
