I know this seems to be an endless topic, but thought I'd put in my thoughts on it. That little piece of plastic that BMW puts on the bike from the factory is nothing more than an insult. So I bought the BMW tall shield . . . better, but still not good . . . noisy, buffeting and updraft. Sunday I installed the Parabellum touring windshield designed specifically for this machine. I'm stunned at the difference. 600 miles in four days in extreme winds, rain and anything else nature had in hand, running both mountain twisties, and over 300 miles of interstate at 75 to 85 mph, almost all of that in a steady rain, and it was gratifying to learn that I'd made such a good investment since I'm a cheap SOB, and hate buying something that doesn't live up to expectations. Wish I'd known about this 23000 miles ago!
Let me make it clear that I am, in no way, affiliated with that company, and this is just personal opinion.

I installed one on my F650 and not only did it clear up the wind noise, it raised my fuel mileage from a decent 50-55 to a very good 60-65 mpg.
The look is an acquired taste, but for function it is outstanding.

+1
I put a Parabellum on a '97 R1100R and it was great, far better than the BMW windshields.

i tried a parabellium and found for my height it was not very good at all. i was buffeted by wind directly on my head making for a very uncomfortable ride. the screen i tried i bought used and it was a bit to tall for me, i was looking through it instead of over it and had i liked it i would have cut it down some. it also seemed too much wind came through the opening towards the bottom of the screen, near the instrument cluster. i had really hoped it would have worked for me because i could see how it would offer much more protection then any other screen on the market.
to those of you who use/like this windscreen do you use your stock BMW fly screen as well as the parabellium or just the parabellium alone? when i tried out the screen i did not use the stock BMW fly screen, maybe i should have.

I reinstalled the stock BMW flyscreen when I installed the Parabellum BUT . . . when I first tried out the bike with the new shield, I had not done so, and I am not really aware of any great difference in the performance.

I reinstalled the fly screen. I liked this configuration the best.
