Hello All,

I am getting ready to add some farkles to my 2006 R1200GS. I am going to add a zumo 550, autocomm system, and at least one accessory socket for my radar detector. The GPS and autocomm I would like to power through switched power.

I am looking at the tech manual and am going to grab power from the central electronics unit pins 4 & 5 and pins 42 & 28. However, my manual doesn't say what is the maximum amperage that these pins can handle. I am assuming that these are switched power points (i.e. hot when the key is on) as they are listed as "optional accessory socket" in my manual.

So my questions to the greater combined knowledge of the BMWMOA is:

What is the max amperage that these points can handle?

Is there a better place to pick power from (other than from directly from the battery)?

Thank you and best regards to you all,:bow

Pins 4 and 5 provide power and ground to the on-board sockets and have a 5 Amp limit. Pins 42 and 28 connect to the optional accessory plug. Pin 28 is power, but pin 42 is a speed signal. The optional accessory plug is normally used to connect the factory GPS units.
