Has anyone else experienced a bent dipstick. I was checking the oil on our F800ST this evening and noticed the dipstick is curved and apparently impacting something inside the engine case as it has an area that is "ground" or filed near the bottom.

Ben,

I hate to bring what looks like bad news but you need a new dip stick. I think at some point you put that dip stick in, just slightly off its intended "axis" or "path" causing it to bend and causing it to be abraded by something else.

I ran across this post, went out to garage, and pulled my stick out for the first time in several months, and mine is as straight as could be, and went back in so. Although I could also feel how it might not do so, and that is what I think you did, once and it stayed that way for awhile.

Sorry. :cry

So, can we safely assume that all dipsticks bent that way have been placed in the hole the wrong way?

Sorry...I couldn't resist.:bolt

Thanks. I'll try to straighten it first and re-insert it correctly, then get a new one when I can.
