I bought a 2004 Rockster in March. I've logged 2,000 miles as of today, a long day of work and play, and the last thing on my list was to stop in my dealership and take care of the recall. It consisted of checking the gas line clamps and orings in the quick release fittings of the gas lines. Some were poorly crimped. The mechanic said he had seen one bike with a problem, the rest were OK.
I assume everyone with a 2000-2004 R bike got one, right?

Tina got one for her Roadster, but since we haven't smelled gas or anything, I haven't bothered to get the recall done. :dunno

I took my bike into the dealer to replace a tire. While it was there the service dept. torqued all bolts to factory spec's and did the fuel line inspection and repair without me even asking. I didn't even get the recall notice until a few days later. I really like the service I get from this dealership. They consistently go above and beyond to prevent problems. Although I didn't buy my bike at Cycle Specialties in Modesto, I get great service at a fair price every time. If and when I buy a new bike, I will get it from them.

I did have a problem with a start-up leak on my 2002 Roadster last summer -- in this case it was damage to the quick disconnects. So I guess I've had half of the recall work done. Don't think I'll have time to get it back in before a ten day mototrip to the Adirondacks, VT & NH a month from now. A buddy from Marin will be riding my 2000 Buell M2 (!), and wives will drive chase car, so I guess I'm not apt to get stranded in any case --

I see from your posts that all of you have "R" bikes. I recieved a letter 5-6-04 for the recall on my 03 K1200LTC. The letter stated all bikes from year 2000 to 2004 could possibly be affected with the bad crimps etc. Just wondering if any other K bike owners got the recall notice. It's a long way to a dealer for me, so I guess I'll plan a day trip to have it checked out.

Me too. I contacted my dealer to see what the urgency priority is, and with a couple thousand miles to go for a service, he said it was no problem to wait. He claims that the problem ones show up pretty quick, and my connections were probably fine. Aside from seeing an obvious gas leak, ride and enjoy. No sense tying up a bike when you can be out riding, and then just catch it at your next service. I'm still sitting on the last recall, for rerouting the the electrical wiring for the oxygen sensor, so they will be making a day of it on my next service.
