If you would like to work a four hour shift in the Beer Garden, sign on here. When you arrive at the rally, please visit the Beer Garden to sign up and pick your shift. We will have sign up sheets available in the Beer Garden when the rally begins. The morning shift, starts when you get there and is over at noon. The morning shift consist of cleanup and stocking. The other shifts are noon till 4 PM, 4 PM till 8 PM AND 8 PM till 1 AM closing. Beer Garden normal staffing requirements are: 2 Ice Box, 2 Cash box, 2 micro brew bar, 1 Soft drink/water server, 4-6 canned beer products servers, 2 stockers(good backs). We also like to have 1 or 2 workers to give breaks on the 4 hour shift. We also have one head bartender per shift. The head bartender has trained at an earlier time slot and knows the whole process. Most head bartenders have been working with the beer team for years. The head bartender coordinates the whole shift and makes minor decisions. Dan, Tom, Phil, or Santa are always there to guide the process.

Friday night the BMWMOA Board of Directors will be working the Beer Garden. We will also need volunteers to help during that time spot. It would be cool if the Forum folks ran a shift. Last year,The Internet Riders BMW Club had enough volunteers for two shifts. The Air Heads, Chain Gang, Saddle Tramps, BMW Riders of Mississippi, Port Club, and Wisconsin Club all work shifts at last years Rally.

Try and stop me, boss! Dan, get your camera ready, and reserve a chair for me. Bullet and Phil, see ya there.

Who's in? We're going to have the Forum gathering on Thursday night at 6, so maybe we just move right over and take the 8 to 1 shift?

Anybody up for that?

Greetings, all! Along the lines of Kbasa, I'd like to suggest that the Forum Folks volunteer for the 4-8 shift on Friday. This way, as Thursday is Opening Day and lots of folks are getting there, we can have our Forum Frenzy on Thursday, and hopefully get a bunch more to help out on Friday, then turn the Beergarden over to Da Board at 8pm. What say?

The call goes out:"Rally Beer Tent needs staff"........I have heard that call many Nationals before...I know I cannot resist.

BeirBosses, I offer my services to your cause,

I'll vote for the Wednesday night duty..volunteer night is always fun!

Y'all know me....I'll do whatever needs to be done at the moment. The Beer Tent is the Center of the National and is the best volunteer duty at the Rally!

Friday Night, I am there. 4 to 8.

This year's Beer Garden is bolted down, right?:p

Heck, I'll even volunteer to carry stuff, provided it has wheels and is under 10 pounds.

Not meaning to disappoint, but we are not permitted to indulge while serving. I know I'll be one of the head bartenders, Rev, are you also? So that's something we have to enforce, and we answer to the chairs, and they get the license. Water and soda are OK, but nothing stronger while serving. Santa, did I get that right?

BradBen, are you bringing your camera again? You did a great job last year. I know Dan Carnevale (co-chair) takes lots of pix of the beer garden in general, and his are what you see on a daily basis.

For those who have not helped out before, some will be selling tickets, taking tickets, serving, pouring draft, selling ice, and restocking. Just to let you know what you're in for. It's a fun time, and you get to meet all sorts of people.

It's good to see so many wanting to help out so early. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you.

Real bartenders don't spill. That would be alcohol abuse.

Don't know "officially". but I'll serve wherever I'm asked to serve.....wouldn't mind being one of the head bartenders--it's a cool job.

I hope the occasional "drop in" worker is o.k. I'm in a questionable job situation and may not even be at the rally. Tricky bit is that I probably won't know my situation until the very last moment... That all being said, I PLAN on being there and would be more than willing to help out.

Hey, folks, I'm not pushing. I'm thankful for the Forum Folks who've volunteered for our shift on Friday afternoon, 4-8pm. So far we've got 9 or 10 people, but I think we could use a few more. Of course, you could wait until you get to the rally to sign up. The more the merrier! See ya there!

For those who will be attending their first National, volunteering is a great way to meet people who share this passion for BMW bikes. There are other committees for which you could sign up, also. Check it out.

Kenny,

Thank you very much for stepping up to help out. :clap

Volunteer registration and entry starts on Wednesday at 2pm. Regular registration starts Thursday morning.

The only people who will be allowed on site prior to Wednesday at 2 will be committee chairs and volunteers needed for set-up. According to the Rally Chair the various committee chairs are providing lists of their advance set up crews. It is my understanding that people who arrive before Wednesday and are not on the list will not be allowed entry.

So to answer your question, yes you can get in early, 2pm on Wednesday.

Best,

BeerTeam

Hi guys,

Just wanted to remind you that the Washington State club will be there in force for you on Saturday night 8:00 PM to closing. I know they have at least 20 people signed up at the moment and there will probably be some drop ins during the night.

Thanks,
Jackie

For Rob Nye,

I wouldn't mind volunteering but how do we find out other "jobs" that may be needing help. Beer Garden sounds like fun but I'm sure there are other areas that could use some help. Other than going to each chairperson and asking, is there another way to signup?

Rob Nye

Bill,

There are a couple of ways to volunteer.

First if you take a look at the committe chair list this will give you some idea of what each committee does. If there is an area of interest I suggest contacting the chair to offer to help out.

The other way to volunteer is to head on over to the volunteer tent which is usually located very close to registration. There will be people there who know where help is needed along with sign up sheets, information etc.

Thanks for your interest in helping out. It is a great way to meet people and take part in making the big show happen.

Best,

Rob Nye

To quote Dave Swider....

If you want to meet people volunteer for security.

Volunteering is a heck of a lotta fun.

Why I am so glad you asked. There is a way to volunteer for any area of the rally that might need help. If you contact the volunteer committee co-chairs, they can tell you which areas and what times are in need of assistance.

Email either Bob Grimm (teutonicrider@comcast.net) or Julie DeYoung (jdeyoung@deyoungmfg.com) and they can match you.

Thanks for helping out. It can't be done without the volunteers!

Please add John Perkins and Don Frank to your list of Beer Garden Volunteers. If you want to group us with the Airheads, that would be fine, but we don't really care. Would prefer evening shift if possible.

I'm sure other Airheads will sign up when they arrive at the Rally. The only shifts that are spoken for are Saturday 4-8 PM will be partly staffed by the Port Club, Saturday 8PM to close which is staffed by Washington State Riders, Friday 4-8 with the Forum Riders. Friday 8 PM to close will be the BMWMOA BoD, but the BoD will also need help, as most have early meetings and other commitments. http://www.dcarnevale.com/garden_center/2004_schedule.htm
