I bought a new 2004 R1150RT a few weeks ago. Last week I rode about 100 miles and at the end of the ride I notice a tiny bit of oil weeping around the front two bolts that hold the cylinder cases on, on the left side. I wiped it off and went for another 100 miles the next week. No more oil weeping on the left side, but the front two bolts on the right side had the same problem, a little weeping of oil from those bolts. In both cases the oil coming from the fastener was more pronounced on the bottom front fastener. Is this a problem I should be concerned about, or just a break in issue? The oil site glass is dead on and the amount of oil coming from the bolts is nearly negligible, but I don’t want a $16000 brand new motorcycle that leaks oil as a rule. Any advice you give me would be appreciated. :cry

I'd make sure and mention it at the 600 mile service at the very least. Make sure not to clean the oil off prior to the service. If it really bothers you or gets worse take it in and ask - that's what the warranty is for.

I am sure the real experts on this forum will have further advice for you. I am not one of them but I do have a '04 RT and have not seen a drop of oil on it or under it.

I hope you like yours as much as I do mine.

By cylinder cases, I assume you mean the valve cover bolts? If so, you should be able to drive by the dealer and have them show you how to tighten them. It only takes a few minutes.
