The weather has been really nice all week here in Southeast Michigan. I've been riding my K75S to work all week long which is about 20 miles each way (livonia to Ann Arbor if you know the area). People see me walk in the door with my PPE (riding pants, jacket, full faced helmet, gloves, etc.) and someone asked me "Why ride to work?" I was confused for a second... It was a legitimate question. Lately, I ride to work becuase gas is at $3.65/gallon here. However, I think the best explanation could come from the article in the las MOA magazine in the mileage contest winner, he said "Sit here, twist that".

Not much more can be said than that, The MPG's is just an added bonus.

So, I forgot to ask the question...

Why do you ride?

I have been riding for 43 years, I ride just to ride and I ride/commute to work everyday there is no ice on the roads even when it's below 0.

Why - because I love to ride and go through withdrawal (I get crabby) if I go more than a week without riding.

From the time that I first threw my 16 year old leg over the saddle of a Yamaha 250 Enduro, I have loved the thrill of the power and freedom of motorcycling. I, personally, like the road much better than the off-road, and really enjoy the places we get to go, usually two up. I have owned and ridden all types of bikes, but a sport-tourer is my current fav. I love my RT, but also lust after the Norge, the ST1300, the FJR, and the new Connie. That is why I ride.

I'll never pilot an F 18 Hornet, or even a Spitfire or Mustang.

So I ride. Closest thing (I think) most of us will ever get to piloting a high performance aircraft.

I saw this on this very forum months ago and open it up occasionally for a mental vacation

With some few restrictions to avoid lawsuits and jail time, my life to has followed the dictum: "If it feels good, do it. If it still feels good, do it again. Repeat." So far motorcycles fall right in there...

I bought my R50 from my brother and when I rode it I was hooked.
I didn't see these driving down the road everywhere around Milwaukee.
Oddly enough, now I see many more.
AS I progressed to bigger bikes I found the joy of riding different kinds of machines, and the hazards of unfamiliarity.
The more I ride, the more I like to ride. I do get tired of crossing states in the rain though. That has lost it's glamor.:laugh
