I'm looking for recommendations for best location to mount an AP-1 on an RT. I have a standard seat. I've heard about using velcro on top of the fuse casing, or on the fender at the rear of the front seat. Somebody also suggested on top of the air filter. Your suggestions, please!:eat

You might consider the FUZEBLOCKS (http://www.fuzeblocks.com) unit.

It is presently sold out, but they should have some by June as stated on their site.

It has a few drawbacks, but it also has some very good features as in being able to choose whether a circuit will be "switched" or not.

Capacity is 30A overall and 10A per circuit...not an issue for most of us.

Thanks for the suggestion. Already have the unit. My big challenge is picking a spot to mount it. Unlike the littel tool compartment under the seat of a GS, the RTs are a bit more cramped under the seat.

My big challenge is picking a spot to mount it.

Is there no room to mount it behind the gas tank or attaching it to the battery box with 3M Dual Lock? I'm not familiar with the RT.

I mounted the Centech on the bridge between the seat risers. The bridge is metal, so I made a bed of heavy rubber tape for it to rest on, and attached it using two wire-ties. It's not in the way, and it hasn't moved since I installed it.

I plan to order a FUZEBLOCK FZ-1 to replace theCentech, because of the apparent quality of the unit, and the convenience and simplicity of access to switched/always-on power options. The FZ-1 is a bit bigger, but it will sit comfortably where the Centech sits now.

On my 1150RT, added a shelf from Sierra BMW just above the instruments. Mounted the Centech unit on the bottom and powered it direct from the battery. Works great, very short run from all fuses to devices. Covered shelf with indoor/outdoor carpet and mount radar detector with velcro, Zumo 550 with ram mount. Fast and easy to remove both at extended travel stops.

That's works for me! I mounted mine in the same spot, only rotated 90 degrees. I was able to mount the relay switch right next to it. I plan on adding another relay on the other side that will power a set out fog lamps. A line from the fog lamp switch on the instrument panel will switch the relay.

Thanks all for the suggestions! Also, thanks to VonBaden's DVD for wiring tips and to Moshe Levy for a great article in Motorcycle Consumer News on installing new Sebel air horns.

I got a sheet of kydex plastic and cut a piece to fit, it's attached to the frame with zip ties. I see no evidence of the fuse block or the wiring getting soaked during wet rides- a little splashed, but I've pulled the side cover off after riding in a downpour and it's pretty dry.

Note there's room to tuck some relays there, too.
