Greetings

Just finished replacing the front shock aka strut on my 2004 R1150RT, pretty simple operation for the most part.

After I'd put it all together, based on this drawing which matches the drawing in my clymer's manual...it occurred to me:

Did I put the top rubber bushing on upside down? Sure it shows the little collar pointing down in the diagram but it could also face toward's the hole the top bolt of the strut fits into and perhaps should?

Anyone know for sure? Is it critical which way that thin rubber collar on the top rubber bushing faces? up or down?

The bushing I am talking about is #2 in the attached picture. I've installed it as shown in the image, with small thin rubber collar facing down.

Sorry but I can't recall how it was mounted on the old shock, I am kicking myself for not noticing it in the first place!

thoughts?

PS: I mounted parts #4 and #5 on top of the triple tree?, securing the top end of the strut. Parts 2,3 are on the bottom side of the triple tree.

There should be a rubber bushing on the bottom and one on the top of the mount to isolate the shock from the mount. I don't think the little lip facing the wrong direction would be a critical issue if you did have it wrong. If you don't a bushing above and below though, that would warrant re-doing things properly.
