I am experiencing a shimmy mostly 60 to 80 mph. I have checked tire pressure front bearings A arm bearings and every other componet I could grab pull or push on. I cannot seem to find any play that would be causing this problem. I can deal with it solo but when I hook my Cyclope on back the shimmy extends into the trailer and can be quite unsettling. It is the trailer because it does it when the trailer is not attached.
Does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks,

ah, but have you checked the tire itself. I don't mean the tread. the tire. I don't mean to come off sounding like a smart ass, but here's what happened to me... I bought a used airhead that had been sitting for a little over a year. took it for a ride, everything felt good. ran it up to 90 mph still good. stopped for a softdrink. got back on and got up to 45mph and it damn near threw me off. I stopped and checked everything. I couldn't find a thing wrong. I rode home REAL slow. long story short... broken belt in tire... could not see it... I replaced the front tire and never had another problem. hope this helps...:thumb

Good thought,
I did replace the tires and it still does it. I just can't get my head around this. It just baffles me.

have you checked the runout on the rim? (wheel ) you've got me scratching my head. we may be looking at the wrong source. also check all rear bearings, pivot arms, shock etc. there should be no play in anything. you start checking, I'll keep thinking...

I have not had time to check for run out but I did look up the specs in my Clymer manual. I did notice a couple of time when taking it off the side stand that it seemed to have a clunk in the handle bar area. I am going to replace the top steering head bearing because there seems to be some play there. When I have it on the table for that I will check the run out on the rims. Now I just need to find time between working on everyones sidecar installations.
