I'm the guy standing by the mailbox. :bliss
Just purchased the Hannigan fairing I have been looking for on eBay. I really like the aerodynamics of the fairing and the fact that it is frame mounted. I have been researching them and looking for ever since I saw the picture of OHScot's bike on page 34 of the "post a pic of your airhead" thread.
Purchased form another BMWMOA member, who was very helpful and great to work with.
I have the shipping period to plot and scheme for the install. Some of those other accessories I have been wanting might need to be added (since I have it taken apart anyway!).

Which model did you get, the SS or ST?
I have an ST in the attic that is waiting for the right bike to join the fleet, it was on my old R75/7. A bit heavy but great protection.

It is an STe.

The people at Hannigan are very helpful and still have all the parts. You will really enjoy it in the cooler weather. Not sure it is just the thing for Florida though?

a bit heavy, perhaps, but expect slightly better mpg.
a testament to aerodynamics !

They are great to work with. We will see about the weight and heat. I rode with a Windjammer in Florida years ago. Probably worse on both. I talked with Jerry at Hannigan about some ways to get fresh air behind the fairing on hot days. I'll let you know how I do once it is installed.

Not bad in the hot weather, just wear the light jacket..

Certainly the mesh jacket and pants, but how about Baker Built Air Wings?

Does Hannigan offer hardware to fit an R65 (1981)? I currently have a Shoei cafe fairing, which does a decent job of deflecting road debris, but doesn't provide much wind shelter topside. I've recently added touring bags to the R65, so it looks like a hybrid between a cafe racer and an RT. I'd be interested in converting it completely into a geezer bike. [Grin].
Also, if I may ask, what's the going $$ for the Hannigan?

Time goes very slowly when you are tracking a package. The fairing is somewhere between Colorado and Florida, in the care of FedEx ground.

Jerry at Hannigan would be very helpful with price application information. Weight may be an issue with the larger fairings on an R65. The Scout that I have been using is very light and can give fairly good protection. Now about this geezer reference...:bluduh
Price on a new Hannigan will vary depending on how you configure it. The used market will vary wildly in price and availability. I've been hunting one for 8 months.

Well the fairing came in. Sadly there was some significant damage. The seller was a stand-up guy and we were able to work it out so that it would be fair to both of us. It can be repaired, but will take some time and expense.
I had already committed to selling my Scout to someone else. I don't have room to store spares and I wanted to offset most of the Hannigan cost. The guy that bought the Scout had a Hannigan SS fairing body that was missing everything else (bracket, windsheild, mirrors, wiring harness, etc.). So I bought it from him.
Since the parts are interchangable, I will be using all the parts from the STe on the SS. Ironically, the SS is the fairing that I was looking for to begin with, though I was happy to get the STe. I may repair the STe and use it for long trips (one of these days). It is more likely I will pass it along to a someone I know that has the time and ability to repair it.
The SS I will be mounting was originally made for a Kawasaki. That makes the interior opening a little large for the BMW, but does not affect the outer fairing. I will need to make a slight alteration to the rear of the mounting bracket. The wider opening at the bottom will probably allow more air from underneath. That may be welcome during the Florida summer. If not, I will fabricate something to block the opening.
I won't get to work on the install until the weekend of the the 10th, due to other scheduled events. Mother's day is on Sunday that weekend and our 18th anniversary is the following Monday, so it may roll another week. Riding a bare bike for a few weeks (with an RT seating position, no less) will make me appreciate the fairing more.:thumb

Don't have fear, these things cut and file like butter.

I have cut it three times and it is still too short!:D
The issue with the Kawasaki setup is not too much material, The opening is larger than it would be on the BMW version. I need to add some short extenders on the rear mount to reach the mounting location. The back part of the bracket will be exposed after the install. If it is an airflow or visual issue, I will make a panel and bolt it to the bracket.
I may call on your expertise before the project is done. After all, it is your fault I'm in the situation to begin with.:nono If you hadn't posted that picture of your good-looking bike, I would not have started looking for a Hannigan.

Almost done. It has been an adventure. I needed to fabricate several parts and overcome some obstacles. Needed new horn mounting brackets, extension brackets with a height adjustment for the rear mount, and a new mounting for the oil cooler. The wiring harness for the Kawasaki is different than the BMW so that needed sorting out. Since mine was born as an RT The best place to connect for the front signals and running lights (running lights are stock on the fairing!) is the external plug that went to the orignal fairing. That adds some wrinkles to the wiring harness hook up. Heat shrink will make it look acceptable. I also need to wire in the GPS with a dashboard mount and install an accessory outlet where a cigarette lighter used to be mounted. The seal on the headlight mount will need some attention, once the headlight is adjusted. Hannigan has upgraded the weatherproofing of this area, but mine is the older style. There are a few other places to seal up as well. I have some pictures, but the files are two big. I need to get a photo account set up.
Once the install is done I need to touch up some paint and buff out some scratches in the gel coat. I can't wait for a test ride!:bolt

I tied my GPS into my running light circuit on the faring. I can run the GPS and not the head light. Don't get excited at times on a back road I would rather run the gerbings liner than the headlight. Post some pictures lets see how she turned out. I mounted the GPS on the left side foward of the faring pocket and just put a SAE plug in the wiring of both. Use a Ram mount with a trianglar base, out of the weather and blocks no instruments.

I am looking for a black Hannigan fairing for my 1975 R90/6 at a reasonable price...$200-$250 given their age.

I have a black STe fairing body that is living in my attic. It the one mentioned earlier in this thread. It needs fiberglass repair and it is bulky to ship. It cost about $125 to get it here. It may not be that much this time, as some of the stuff was used on the one I installed. It does not have a mounting bracket or a windshield or mirrors.
If you want to take it on as a project, let me know.

Here are some photos of the install. A new windshield and correct mirrors are on order.
