I just bought this bike and it is missing the entire mirror assembly on both sides. I have looked on the internet for parts and I am completely confused about what I need to buy. Is it possible that these parts will cost in excess of $600.00?

Can anyone help me with part numbers and/or possibly a site where these can be purchased more reasonably. I am 2 hours from a dealer and don't want to drive the bike without mirrors.

By the way in my riding past, I had a late 70's R1000, R800, and the first K model. All were great except the K. I really look forward to being part of the oilhead community.

Haven't shopped them but I've heard good things.

YMMV

your mirrors just pop off on that bike. check e-bay, I saw some on there the other day. your turn signals are also in the mirrors. you may have to purchase them seperate. 1996 threw 2001 will fit. I have a 1999. hope this helps...:bolt

http://www.beemerboneyard.com/mirrors.html looks good but they are all SOLD. Why advertise things that are sold. By the way, what is this assembly called - Mirror Assembly??

Thanks anyway.

Sorry, noticed that whole 'sold' thing.

The mirror assembly is the plastic form, turn signal lens, glass and mirror adjustment gizmo ( a technical German word for "I don't know how it works) that is all one piece.

The bulb and socket for the turn indicator are wired to the bike and as the gent just upstream said, the assembly pops on and off on three (I think) plastic pins.

You can install stalk type mirrors from other 1100 series bikes. They cost a lot less, you can get them used. The handlebars protect them if you drop the bike. You can see over camping gear, etc that you are packing across the rear saddle or on top of the bags. Also, you won't have to mess with them when you pull the plastic off. JON

There are a couple auctions ending on eBay today for exactly what you need.

If you really want these, be sure to place a high maximum bid. Many bidders will place their bid in the final seconds, so you don't want to be outbid.

Good luck.

I will give it a shot. Thanks! These are white, and the bike is silver. Do you think they can be painted.

I won the bid on the two mirrors, but in the end I paid almost as much as new ones would have cost, I think. Its just so easy to get caught up in the bidding...
