Gotta say that I'm as jazzed as the next guy when a new model comes out. I love spy shots, and the test mules with the camoflage on them to try to trick snooping eyes. I have to say that the web site for the K1200S is leaving me with two thoughts... #1 I don't care for the fur covering. #2 The bars look to be a bit pointy. There had to be a bad joke there somewhere with "test mule / bull" but I'm not up to it at the moment. Waiting for pics....

Like anyone will actually see 180 on the bike on the street. I just don't understand the desire for a bike that goes that fast. I probably will never see the absolute top end of my bike unless the track day goes really really well.

180mph is well into the realm of what I call "silly fast" I can honestly say that my personal top speed record is 140mph. Yamaha V-Max... damn near wet my pants, but I just HAD to find out what that kind of speed felt like. So, I would have to say that my interest in anything moving 180mph without wings is minimal at best.

My top speed is 145 on my old 1996 yamaha FZR600.Did 130 on my k11 last week on OCEAN PARKWAY by JONES BEACH in long island N.Y. Alot of sport bike guys go out there to ride. Its about ten miles long, and straight.Got to be careful though state poilce hangs out there mostly in the summer. They hooked up camaro's,and there a lot faster than my K11!

I have to admit that I started jumping up and down in my friends apartment when I saw that this bike was finally going into production. It is a happy day in BMW land.

I guess what I like about my BMW, and makes it the bike for me is the Telelever, and the ability the bike has to take a lot of gear and still be fun to ride. Once I got used to it, I have to say that the Telelever is the most advanced suspension design, and works way better than anything else. I have cracked triple digits, and the comfort level is amazing. When taking someone for a ride, and telling them afterward the speeds we reached always gets the same reply "It was so smooth, I never would have guessed we were going that fast." I can hang with most squids, but there are those who can ride their bike to the full potential and kick my butt, but I really have the best motorcycle for me, a truly do it all machine. 180mph, 0-60 in 1.8 seconds are not what I was looking for.

I started out with sport bikes.and love them alot. But my k11 is the best bike I've ever owned yet. Great performance, comfortable, and stable.Basically it's kind of like sleeper to me;) . It's nice to see BMW compete with Japanese sport bikes for a change.

Just remember that someone somewhere is tired of putting up with that supermodel's crap.

180mph... to each their own, but like I said before: If I'm going 180mph I'd better be seated in a plane looking at a stewardess handing me a beer.

I rode with K Basa out that way once. I was on a rented R1150RT, Dave was on Tina's RS. We swapped bikes once in a while.
I told him that you shouldn't shift the RT into 6th until you redline in 5th, otherwise you lost a good 10% off the top. Regardless that RS just pulled away every time. At least when I was riding it. ;)
Only in Nevada.
Best,

The rumor I'm hearing is that top end is 220! It has to be up there high to make the time it did on the hell track! Can't wait, what a blaaaaaaaasssssssssstttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!
keep in mind that was a tested speed, maybe they were tweaking it a bit. I can hardly believe that Joe Shmo could get out on the road and really hit 220, but.......ya just never know!:brow
