I am thinking of adding a windscreen to my R1100R. It currently has a small fairing on it (I think it's a Parabellum Scout) but I am looking for more bug protection...

Does anyone have any experience with this? And do you know what the BMW mounting brackets cost?

thanks in advance

I had one of these. Fantastic protection, like a Cone of Silence was dropped on your head. The only problem I had was with persistent cracks around the mounts. Mfg. says its the fault of the BMW mounts. I did not repurchase because of this, but I would definitely buy this 'shield for a different mounting system. You WILL get hot in the summer with this 'shield, BTW.

I have a 2000 R1100R with a Scout Fairing. I think the look is classic and dresses the R up considerably.

You might just consider ordering a larger screen for the Scout. I ordered a 23" and also have a smaller one but leave the 23" on most of the time. You can custom order any size for the same price.

That sounds like a really good idea. I went to the Parabellum website and they did not list anything for the R1100R. I looked at what they did have for Scout fairings, and none of them looked EXACLY like mine. I am new to the BMW world and I am not 100% certain this is a Parabellum Scout. Can you tell me if this looks like your fairing?

thanks

Here's a link to the Parabellum web page with a pic of a scout on an R1100R on it. http://www.parabellum.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=22&Product_ID=1&CATID=1

It looks like you've got the 10 inch screen on yours. I've got a 16 inch on mine with a Laminar Lip and have plenty of bug protection. An 18 inch would probably be perfect without the Laminar Lip but I don't like looking through a windscreen.

This is exactly what I have on mine. Call and order by the phone. This is what I did and his suggestions about the proper height convinced me to order a taller one than I would have originally bought.

He said you should not look through the screen but you should look over it no more than 2 inches.

My smaller screen has Saeng edging which looks good.
