Just purchased 1994 k75 and have put about 2000 miles on it. It now has 38000 miles. lately I've noticed when slowing down to come to a stop it often backfires(more of a rumble an sometimes a pop). Is this something that needs to be corrected. I'd also like to get a new seat. Has anyone tried the corbin gunslinger
or dual canyon seat. Just got back into cycling after about 25 years and don' really want to over invest in this bike. It is a great machine and has helped me get my confidence back in cycling. But I do see a need for a larger bike in a year are so because I'd like to double up. Thanks

Hey dude, I have an 87 I bought new and has over 90 thou on it. These things are good for WAY more miles than that, I have reports of 200 thou to 300 thou if well cared for, yours is just gettin started! On mine the gear whine noise started to subside somewhat about 40 thou, so yours is "just getting broke in" believe it or not.
Yeah the popping is what I would consider normal. Did it less when newer, and yeah you know when the whining subsided is when the popping started up more. It has to do with the injection system. You might have noticed it only does it below about 20-25 mph. If you are driving above a certain speed, then let off the throttle completely, when coasting it stops injecting fuel. When it coasts below whatever that magic speed is (it tells you in the owners manual), it injects a small amount, I'd guess whatever amount it would inject just sitting still idling in neutral? Anyways, it'll sometimes "bark" at ya a little bit when it starts injecting fuel again. One time this friend of mine was following me on the highway and we got off the highway onto a ramp, and he said when I was decellerating and the thing started popping that I had the "prettiest" blue flame he'd ever seen coming out the pipe when it was doing this! (My engines been warmed up a tad, so this probably helped).
I've had 2 Corbins, I had a Dual TOUR, which was comfortable enough. After a long time it started irritating my inner thighs because of the width of the seat I think (I could have had them narrow the nose I guess) but instead swapped to a Dual Canyon which is narrower. I was ready for a new look anyways. They will do them up i all sorts of different looks. If you order one, DON'T get carried away with the different piping, INSTEAD specify NO piping, it's way more comfortable and a cleaner look. I did mine in dark grey leather and black vinyl with no piping, looks good, I can post a pic if you want to see it.

PS in my avatar picture, if you can make it out, the bike has a BMW solo seat on it, which believe it or not is what my 87 came with from the factory! I still have it and will put it on once in awhile on a whim. Usually if the warm riding season is over as I want to have the bike ready if my wife wants to go for a spin (she is NO cold weather rider!)
