Just got the 96 K1100 back together, ran it and had to adjust the TPS to get it to idle properly. HAd a leak in the timing chain cover. (What else is new!) And got a inconsistant growling. Sounds like my stomache in the morning...no really, sounds like the timing chain is kind of whipping around. I notice it after I goose the throttle. But it is not consistant and seems to go away at above idle but then it seems to develop a little skip.

Did I read somewhere that fuel injection systems don't like quick disconnects on the fuel hoses?

Plus after it warmed up it developed a back fire after letting go of the throttle. I tightened up the TB rubbers. Checked the plugs, they look nice. Did notice number three piston looks a little wetter then the other three. Checked the torque on the exhaust nuts.

I dropped the timing chain cover to reseal it and gave the timing chain assembly a looking over. The spockets and chain look very healthy for 99.3k bike.
Is there anyway to check how tight the chain is suppose to be?
Should I be able to push the tension adjuster piston up and down?
Work that I performed was headgasket, reseal water and oil pump, replaced throttle body rubbers, replaced fuel hoses, new exhaust (Remus)
