Here in the interior of Alaska I saw my first bike on the road last week. There are a couple of tough soles that ride with hacks all year long, but last week's siting of a K75 and some HDs marks the beginning of the riding season. I'm a few days away from being able to get my ride on the road because the street I live on is still hardpack snow covered. Is there anyone else out there that still cannot ride because of lingering winter conditions? Those south of the Mason-Dixon Line need not mock us.

I'm going to try to respond without making a mockery. you don't realize how good you have it! you have all winter to tear down and rebuild, repaint, service or add more gadgets. here in South Carolina we never get to do any major work on our machines unless we just take them off the road. I would love to wake up in the morning and see snow. today is April 4th and its 80 degrees outside. with global warming Alaska should be this warm in another 700-800 years. so hang in there.:stick

I never appreciated how difficult it was to live in such sunny climes. Just had two more inches of snow this morning but now a steady rain has melted the snow. Will be pleased to send lots of snow your way. I still have plenty in the back yard. :laugh

It's a single lane road out to the light house. Not sure if it's even a public road, to be honest.

Hmmmm, methinks your request is being ignored. Here in Michigan we've had enough rain that the only snow left is the occasional pile left in a parking lot. We're heading to 50-60 degree weather this weekend - time to ride! It hopefully isn't far behind for AK. :clap

finally a short ride yesterday and an hour today before work. Tomorrow I think I'll make it up to the breakfast joint and ride in to work. I'm off at about 5p so it should even be decent going home. It's been a long crappe' winter here in the windy city. But I even saw the big light in the sky this morning...what's it called again?
Just breaking in the new top-end and the bike feels strong even keeping it at low rpms. Lots of giddyup even in the "wrong" gear. woo hoo!:clap

Went over to the garage where the RT has been in cold storage since November. Put the battery in and it fired right up. Let it warm up a tad and then put the plastic on and only had a couple of bolt left over :p
Ran the snow blower to knock down the drifts and walked the bike to the street.
Put on the gear and off we went.
Had to leave the shield cracked to keep from fogging it up and there was just a touch of snow in the air. Drove over the Dillon dam road to avoid I70 and the sand. It is now in the garage and I'm going to get to add on the fun stuff I bought over the winter.

I took my (new to me) '87 K75C out in traffic for the first time today. I haven't ridden since Jimmy Carter was in office so I was a little nervous, but it was fun. The K worked great and I didn't screw up so all is well.
This was the first nice sunny day that we've had in a long while.
What are some opinions on the Kisan signal minder? I think that I was paying too much attention to turning the signals on and off and it would help to automate the turn off move. Also they can be programmed to function as running lights. Do they work as well as the plug in types with two filament bulbs?
Thanks,

Still waiting for my bike to arrive in CR. Rainy season starts soon, getting impatient. Did get a nice colorado ride in last week when I was "home".
