Many of the roads here in southern Maine are in good shape for riding. The coastal route 1 is not in bad shape as I just went from portland to bar harbor this past weekend. There are some pot holes in and around Portland.
Does anyone have any reports fro NH or VT?
Thank You

ah.... so Portland, my hometown 'back when', shares our (Halifax) dedication to pothole preservation. We'll be back there at the end of May so I fully expect the usual patch and tar snake remedy will await. I'm beginning to think that the only vehicles to own are 1) a four wheel critter that is a 3/4 ton truck and,2) although Mary says they're FN ugly, a GS. Looking forward to the roads in the south west :dance -Bob

I've been on sections of Rt 5 in VT and Rt 10 in NH between Hanover/WRJ and Fairlee/Orford - not bad. Today I did about 100 miles on Rt 4 west through Woodstock to Killington, up Rt 100 to Stockbridge, 107 to Bethel / Rt 14 S to Sharon, 132 NE to S Strafford on through to Union Village Rd to Norwich and on back to WRJ. While I hit a few frost heaves, they were moderate. No real potholes. The roads are mostly dry with only occasional salty meltwater on them.
And Tozier's opens again April 17 - so the BMW MOV breakfast will be there in May.
It was a great day. Life is good.

Manchester and south have lost their ground cover, Concord north still has plenty of snow. Main roads are clear but back roads have heavy sand. We've been luck to have a slow melt, with moderate rain, but only the rain will take away that sand. This weeks warm weather should rid of us the shade ice.
I'll let Tom report on conditions in the White Mountains...

Not to highjack your tread, but all roads (except the slab) in Quebec are in awful shape with heaving and thawing. I rode on and off for the last two weeks and was afraid to loose my front end on the 1200RT (comfort setting...) At least snow is melting.
Ride safe and watch for the sand and gravel.
Cheers

The state tree and state weed (orange construction barrel and orange constuction cone) have begun sprouting hiway wide. Use extreme caution.
