I made a really big decision, recently. Although my R80 is in OK shape mechanically, I really always was hoping for a bike with ABS. As for the GSPD, it needs some work, and I've grown tired of throwing money at it, so I went out to look for a newer bike. The BMW shop up in Detroit has some good people, and I was looking at an 1150GSA (they were offering me a reasonable amount for my two Airheads). I was a little concerned about possible issues with the shaft drive setup, and the used 1150 was still kind of pricey. What happened was totally unplanned; I ended up riding a used Concourse they had, and it was really pretty nice. It fit me well, the price was good, and I think it looked kind of cool. Anyhow, my financing went through, and it seems I no longer own a BMW. :(
I'm still going to stick with the MOA of course. I like the owners news, and the forum is still pretty cool. I pick up the new bike this weekend (I need to trailer my two bikes up to the dealership, since I can't ride them at the same time). Photos will be coming soon. I'm excited. :clap

Well, if I had it to do over, I'd have gotten one of those used in the 1200 motor instead of the LT. We (Jeanne and I ) went with the LT only because jeanne could fit it better than the concours, but so far, a year and half later she's never driven it! She seems to like her Suzuki cruiser and I doubt she'll ever drive the LT.
Enjoy it, I had the Kaw Z1A in 74 that was the blueprint for that motor, its was one great motor back then so it has a long tried and true history.

Well congratulations with the new bike, Josh! If your Concourse is not of the new generation, it will often be mistake for a K bike. Just put some BMW stickers on the faring or gas tank. All joking aside, as many of agree, it's not what you ride, but just that you ride. I was considering a lifetime membership before the end of the month, but then I decided a five year membership might be a better deal in case it is not a BMW that I ride next. I bet you just can wait to get the new bike out on the road. Enjoy it!

Nothing to be ashamed of there, Josh. Connie's are great bikes.
I'm assuming that you got the 1000 cc version, not the new 1400 cc version?
Whatever, Congrats!

Yep. Need to see some physical evidence. Seems a bit far-fetched on this particular day.
I performed my first april fools joke at 0006 this morning. Had the doctor all worked up that we were getting ready for surgery.

Yeah, I think I walked RIGHT into that one...:banghead
I stand by my statement that Connies are good rides, though!

or if you traded in 2 airheads for one old style concourse, a nice little check from the dealer for about 2 grand

And the Concours is school bus yellow... :p
Congrats on the Connie, I ride with two that have them and love them.
My last bike was Suzuki Bandit 1200S with ABS that was so reliable over ten years it was scary! Now, me, I could no longer push it around with a pained shoulder so the lighter, low COG F800 suits me better. OK, it's a Beemer, but some don't think so and often let me know it. :stick
I don't think you'll have that problem with the Connie, though. If you fit it, and it fits you, it's bike heaven! Enjoy! :clap

Did I also leave out that I've decided safety gear is for sissies, and from now on I'll be riding in shorts, sandals, a t-shirt, and a do-rag? :p
OK, I wasn't going to do anything for April 1, because I generally find it pretty annoying. After reading Visian's thread about guns and tank bags... well... I figured what the heck. It seems all the people who know me well enough realized I wouldn't be trading in my beloved beemers. Especially after spending so much on having the R80's tranny rebuilt. Rides like a dream, coincidentally.
BTW: If I was ever going to get a non-BMW, the Connie would be on my short list of bikes to check out. They indeed look to be nice rides. I rode with a guy from Canada who was on a Connie, and that was way up in Radisson - so I think that speaks well of the bike making it up there. ;)
And, if I got you on this one, I owe you beer - as long as you promise not to beat me. :drink
You obviously got me on this one. Here, here, you owe me a beer at Gillette. You going?

Put me down for some (many) of those beers, Josh.
You got me, ... uhh, ... yeah, ... I fell for it, ... yeah, that's the ticket ... That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

There'll be no beating, only beer drinking!
:buds
Your post says you owe me (and several others) beer, not a beer, but beer in general. Sounds good to me!

New job might not allow for a run to Gillette. That doesn't mean I won't be at other locations where I may be able to provide said beer. I'll keep you on my list. :)

I'm saving a frothy brew for you. :D

Hmmm... this one is questionable, but you know; why not. Of course, since there is no proof for you, you'll have to find ME for the beer. :)

Mmm... beer drinking. Although... "beers" could be dangerous. How about we drink until I run out of beer, and call it even? :drink :drink :drink

Thanks, JD,
How about the AZBEEMER ROADRUNNER RALLY in Heber, AZ, May 16th to 18th or the RED ROCKS RALLY in Panguitch, Ut. June 20th - 22nd?
I know I am going to the first one, the second is a maybe. See ya!
