I have a friend who wants to fabricate a trailer hitch for my '86 R80RT, but he'd need pictures to go by. Anyone have one that the wouldn't mind photographing and sending me pix of?

If the size of the pictures makes them too large to post here, you can email them to me at dwarvenbiker at yahoo (you know what to put here, right?) com.

Or if anyone knows of one for sale, that'd be great, too!

Thanks,

Ross

Sorry can't help you with a picture... I saw one for sale a year or so ago on ebay... I inquired about it and was informed that putting a trailer or sidecar on the bike would not be a good idea, as there would be too many stress points and parts to wear out pre-maturely. I left it alone. I already take too much stuff with me as it is... a trailer would be too much of a temptation... best of luck :lurk

I also don't know of any pictures...except something Oak included in the August 2007 Airmail of homemade hitch and trailer. He also had an article in the June 2007 Airmail where he discussed extensively trailers and pulling them. He mentions a book called "Pulling Your Tail" by Bill Brobst. At one time, the book was out of print but is supposed to be back in print.

He also indicated that the following place that manufactures hitches of special swivel types for motorcycles and sells other supplies:

Black Tie Accessories Inc.
610 S. Lake St.
Amherst, OH 44001
440-988-7233

I found this website, but didn't dig into it very far...not sure how helpful this will be...
