I am helping a friend improve a badly rusted 1976 R75/R. He is not concerned about complete authentic restoration, rather he wants the bike in safe working order, presentable enough that he is not embarrassed while out on the road, (money is a factor). The bike has 7,000 original miles, was his father's (original owner), has family sentimental value as well as being a great bike mechanically, definitely worth cleaning up, getting back on the road.
Neither of us is a mechanic, but we can read a manual and do basic work.
I see new aftermarket mufflers, no brand name, offered on eBay for $169.00. The same for pipes and cross-over tube, $149.00, buy it now price. Are these worth the money, or should I talk him into something else, and if so, what?
Thanks in advance for any/all help. Rand Hall #132022 1976 R90/6
