Ok Ladies and gentlemen, 1996 K1100RS, idles high. I just put it back together after a head gasket change. Throttle bodies were off (not disconnected from choke and throttle cable). I tried clearing faults and also turned the throttle slowly after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery (TPS). Throttle feels ok , doesn't feel or look stuck. Any ideas?

Did you check the TPS voltage? Should be 0.375-0.385V with throttle closed, engine off, ignition on.

The 'open/close' 'learning' step doesn't apply to your bike, that procedure onlyh applies to the MA 2.4 bikes.

Well I tried that once, but I guess that doesn't work according to your info. I have also been try to check other items through the Motronic connector but the diagram
I got off the KOG site doesn't seem to line up with my connector. I also tried looking for faults and I ground the pin on the blue connector but I get no blinking water temp light.

It's pretty easy to fold one or more of the throttle body manifolds under the throttle bodies on the back side when reinstalling them. This will cause a big vacuum leak and high idle condition.

Before you go hunting down electrons, check for a vacuum leak. that's the first thing I thought of when i read your post. You can spray WD40 around the throttle bodies to see if that changes the idle speed.

I read something about a vacuum hose attached to the throttle body assembly. I don't recall pulling a vacuum hose. Of course its been two years since I took it apart. Is there one?

There is a vacuum port on each throttle body. The left 3 have a rubber cap on them. the one on the right has a vacuum hose that attaches to the fuel pressure regulator.

A leak on any or all of them can cause a high idle.

All the caps are on and cables ok. Found the TPS way off.
