Hello

Planning a trip across the northern US on Hwy 2, until I get to Montana then I'll go wild to the Pacific.

If anyone knows of any good B&B's and places to eat I'd probably check them out on the trip.

Just send me an email direct.

Cheers

Gary

I truck drive through that area to get to Calgary or Edmonton, AB. You must be careful about the local animals (mainly deer and elk) and around two tribal areas 1) around Wolf Point and 2) around Browning. That being said I love the scenery and the vastness of Montana. Good Luck, :dance

Let me know when you get to the Pacific side of the Cascades, there's a place or two I can think of, plus a spare room I have.

Also, keep a note of any unique stops you do make, as I'll need them very soon for Unchainedworld and a shake down trip.

In case you're not aware of it Rt 200, which parallels 2 to the south will have less traffic especially truck traffic. It's a nice motorcycle road but I don't recall many B&B's.
Have fun!

I`ve stayed at Harlowtown at the town crossroads across from the very small casino. It was clean and had fireplaces in some rooms. Take that road north thru Judith`s Basin (? i think) and you end up at Ed`s Corner. Small gas station and motel with a very good diner. Go left there into Great Falls which is a nice town. If you continue on Mt. 200 you wind up in Missoula and that road follows the Black River as you get closer to Missoula and would be abit of fun on a bike. Then out of Missoula head toward Lewistown, ID. which my son tells me is a great winding mountain road but I haven`t done it yet. Good Luck and still keep an eye out for the deer. :bolt

Thanks all, very much appreciated. I'll need to review the map to look at rte 200. Wanted to see this underground aspect of Havre, still can with the route. Thanks for the "watch for".

Time wise I am looking at leaving home base on the 25th of May and luckily have 20 days + to get to the west coast and back home. Want to stop at Kalispell for a day. I'm going to try to put together a blog and such, but will check in on this forum.

If anyone in Washington/Montana want to touch base with me to provide any more bits of info, feel free.

Thanks again.

For this trip you'll probably like 2 better than 200 since that will take you close to Glacier National Park; why not take it all the way through Washington? It's pretty dramatic. The only diversion I'd recommend is from Libby, just west of town take the Bull Lake Road, 56, down to 200, then West on 200 until you catch up to 2 again.

You can make Havre to Kalispell in one day but you might want to pick a place to stay over, near the park, so you can at least ride into it.

It's hard to suggest B&Bs without knowing your layover plans (or your budget). Belton Chalet is nice. It's in West Glacier. If you want to stop sooner, in East Glacier, consider the Whistling Swan Motel and eat at Serrano's if you like Mexican food. To stop in between, even if just for lunch, check out the Izaak Walton Inn. It's right on the train tracks and is a classic Glacier Park Lodge.
