On my 83R100RT the previous owner replace the control unit. When he did he just wire tied it to the top of the frame tube under the tank. I am trying to figure just where it should be mounted corectly

I've never been under the tank on one of these, but I understand that the ICU needs some heat sink paste between its base and where it's attached to the frame. The paste helps pull heat out of the unit. I've read about issues of misfiring from people who don't update the paste regulary. New paste can be purchased at Radio Shack.

It's odd that is is not clear at all where it should mount. In the Clymer book I can see where it should go, but underneath my tank there does not seem to be a bracket to install it on. i am starting to understand why it is wire tied on. But that is just not gunna cut it.
I will purchase some heat sink goop, thank you..

The bracket attaches to the junction block where the metal brake lines all meet.
