Since I got my new bike I've Clay Bar'd the paint, polished, waxed twice, cleaned and conditioned the black, installed the GPS, installed the satellite radio, and removed the CD changer.

I started it up in the garage to let it run for a while, and, when I try to put it in first gear, NOTHING HAPPENED!

I let the clutch out, pulled it back in and nothing again. Tried second gear and it worked. Tried first gear again and it then worked. After trying different patterns, it seems that if it idles for a while, first try into first gear does not work. If I let the clutch out and try a second time it works fine. I can go from first to neutral and back to first but if I let it run awhile, it acts up again!

Is this the typical linkage issue? If so, being an '02 with 22K, should I replace the parts or just disassemble, grease, and re-adjust?

Joe,
since you are talking about lubing the linkage I will guess you have an LT. This is a common problem with all makes of bikes. when sitting still and the clutch squeezed the gears are not turning. If they stop with the teeth not meshed you cannot shift. Apply a slight pressure to the shifter while slowly easing out the clutch will allow the gears to spin slightly and mesh allowing the shift to complete.
