Hello,
I want to install highway pegs on my 2002 R1150R and was looking at Elf Pegs as an option. Has anyone had experience with Elf Pegs?

Sorry, once again work kept me from my true calling...
I love my ELF pegs. I have had them for at least a year, and after a slight mishap in a parking lot, fricking gravity sucks, I was short one for a week. Man was that a long week, about 1,500 miles.
I have bad knees to put it nicely, and these make it possible to do long days no problem for me by changing postions.
If you want to see what they look like... http://www.bradfordbenn.com/beemer/accesorydetail.cfm?acc=5&model=1
Installation took about three minutes. Hardest thing was to find the proper thread locking agent, someone had taken it out of the "normal" location in the garage.

They sure seem like a great option to me if you can get past the initial cost. A lot better approach to the other add on pegs that use a big honkin' bracket and peg. I like the subtle hideaway appearance, but the price is holding me back. My buddy Maurice found that if you ordered 10 sets, you get a pretty big price break so maybe it's possible to round up a possee of ten and save in "bulk".

oldcarkook, If you are willing to organize it, I'm the first to volunteer for a pair!

I have an '04 Rt and would also be interested in a et of these pegs as I too have knee "issues". I assume they will work with the plastic valve cover protectors but just can't visualize how they mount on the twin spark head. :dunno Anyone know?

I know that they have them in dual spark. I have even seen them not mounted on the bike. Beyond that... well can't really help a lot

I'm in! If the discount is significant.

I'm interested in joining the bulk purchase depending on the amount of savings (plus ups) and if it fits the dual plug bikes. I have an '04 RT.:)

At 6' 1" and with long legs I find my elf too close. My knees aren't straight enough for comfort. I try to place my heel on them, but afraid they will close and my foot will slam the ground at highway speed.
So, if you are long, reconsider them.
Secondly, my dealer charges me a 1/4 hour to remove them when doing maintenance. And, the last time I let them do that, they didn't restore them properly. I was lucky to notice that they weren't properly reattached.
Now I remove them myself before service.

Hey Dave, It sounds like you should sell them. I just happen to be in the market for a set! :D
I'm only 5'7 1/2" and have 28" inseam. Likely they would allow me to fit, if not a bit of a stretch!;)

So do they charge you for taking off the other valve covers? Seems to be the same number of screws, 4. I think your dealer is being a little too persnickety.
YMMV,

YMMV,
If I understand correctly, they come off in just a couple minutes. Also the holes don't go anywhere, so why not just take them off yourself before you take the bike in for service?

I have a set and my dealer has never charged me for taking them off. I guess to me, it is the principal.

CALLING OLDCARCOOK... what's the line on your friend? Where can he order them from? Looks like we have significant interest.

Looks like this isn't going to happen! Too bad. I would love to find a new set at a fair price. :dunno

I would be interested in a set myself it a group order with a bit of a discount could be arranged. I would think that an order of 10 sets might be doable right from the mfg. Anyone have a small business with a tax ID #??

Just saw a used pair of ELF pegs on the BMW Marketplace. I'd buy them but I'm a bit cash challenged right now...
