Yup, I think you get the BMW UP THE WAZOO AWARD:banghead :banghead :german :german :german :scratch :scratch
Like Knary said..
Nice Studio!!!
Sugar that funny.
... going to have them get a whole new FD unit since the first bearing and seal are Factory installed... dont want wear to the bearing housing so soon from having to plop a new bearing and seal ing...
So do I win the award for the quickest FD failure.... wonder if it will come in a nice glass trophy.. this could easily drive anyone to :bottle :bottle :bottle :bottle :bottle :bottle ::bottle heavily....
Why did you have the drive replaced?
Maybe I just read it wrong, but did you imply when the dealer replaced the drive they did not replace the bearing, seat, and seal? :scratch
Makes me wonder if your dealership did any work on "the" Iron Butt bikes.
Sorry to hear about the problem. Let us know how it turns out. Hope it gets repaired soon at no cost to you and with with no more inconvenience.
Our organization needs to start giving out a Final Drive Failure Patch. Prehaps a gear in the middle of a purple heart.

Are you kidding??? Do you have any idea how much it would cost to make up all those patches. :dunno
And it wouldn't be fair to all of us K and F bike riders to squander all the clubs money on something we couldn't get.

I would need two patches...'02 K12RS at 70K and again at 80K. BMW paid in full (parts and labor) for the second one.

BMW final drives are made of sugar. Another friend lost his R12GSA's final drive yesterday. When someone says "so and so's BMW broke down" or similar and they're talking about a newer bike, you don't wonder what part died a premature death. :bluduh
But, hey, it's just internet rumors out of control. :brow

Easy, from this statement if the OP "i had the entire Final Drive replaced last Nov. at the dealership" i took it to mean that all was new. But, as you know, I could be wrong.

All this seems so bizarre. The final drive technology seemed to be sturdier decades ago.
I think the new final drive like that on the F800GS, chain drive, should solve the problem. I sincerely don't mean that as a wisecrack but wonder if simpler is a complex world does not have its own advantages.
Hope it all works out well for you.

Careful, Tom. Ya tryin to say it don't happen to K's? :whistle
I could use 2 patches for my '93 K11LT. And I know I'm not the only one.
Yeah. I know... :violin :violin :violin
